Weekly Update

Happy Monday my friends! We have used up another weekend and are back to the working world. I have to say, I actually used my weekend wisely this time!

Saturday I spent grocery shopping and washing my car. Let me tell you, my car was a mess inside and out. The outside had not been washed properly for the past 4 years. My dad used to wash my car for me when he would come to accept the fact that I was not going to do it. Since he is no longer around, I have to do it myself and I’m a little bummed about it. Well, I was a little bummed about it.

I found out that I really like the act of washing the car. It gave me a sense of accomplishment and independence. It still needs to be washed again. My car, a black Kia Soul (I have a soul!), sits under the trees when I am parked at home, so it gets messy fast with the tree sap and all of the pollen. I think I will wash it again next weekend.

Now, the inside of the car has been cleaned several times, but I am always on the go. I forget to take the trash out of the car when I am pumping gas or have a bag I can put it in. I just don’t think about it until it is too late and the car ends up being a mess. There is also dog hair all over the place and dirt on the floor.

I say all this so that you can understand why I bought a car vacuum. Why did I buy a car vacuum? I know you are probably not wondering why, but I have to tell you anyways. So, one of my favorite books series White Trash Zombie by Diana Rowland has a cop in it who had a vacuum in his car. When I read it my first thought was “That’s a thing?” I had to look it up and when I realized it was a thing I HAD to buy it. So I bought one and I am so glad I did. Now, if you see a crazy woman at the gas station using her little handheld vacuum in her car…no you didn’t.

Sunday, I got some writing done! Not only did I get some writing done, but I also got some editing done! It was a magically productive day. On my Twitter account, I shared my editing key. Does anyone else have anything like this that they use when editing? I kind of love it and it has come in handy. I got the idea from book reviewers that use the page tags when they are reading. It made so much sense to use it for my own stories. Now when I am editing I have ways to highlight and mark all the things without having to write out why it is important. It also makes it easier to find something specific I may be looking for in the story I am editing. Like…a first kiss! I just have to find all the pink tabs. I have more tabs I can use for different things. I kind of went overboard and bought a pack of page tabs. It comes with 980 tabs and 7 different colors. It makes me so happy! If you click the picture of the tabs, it will take you to where I found it on Amazon.

While editing I got tired of sitting at my desk. Despite the beautiful view, I have out my window…

I still needed to change things up and ended up sitting on the floor.

That is all the updates I have for you today. I was excited that I got some writing done and even more excited that I am excited for the story I am writing! So tell me, what did you get done over the weekend? Any reading or writing?
