Weekend Renovations

Happy Monday my friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend. I had Friday off work for the holidays and took Monday off too. I had a vision for the office and I finally had everything for it. I had the paint, the curtains, and fairy lights. There are a few things that I need to do to really finish up my dream office vision, but for the most part, it is complete and I am so in love with the way it came out.

Did it take all weekend to finish? Yes, it did. I am tired and wish I had taken more time off work but I know myself. If I had taken more time off work the office would still be half painted.

I have had this office for almost 5 years now. When I moved in, I somehow got the extra room for the office. I live with my mom and brother. My dad was still around when we moved in. Let me tell you, my dad knew how important my books were. There were some of the first things to make it into the house. He passed away 10 days after we moved in, so I never moved out.

Did you know that it’s cheaper to just never leave home? I am not married. I don’t have kids. I have my own space. We have two living rooms, one is basically mine, on top of the bedroom, and the office, I even have my own bathroom. I am paying way less to live with my family than I would if I had moved out.

Back to the office. This is what it looked like before the renovation(?)

So, I cleared it out and got to work. I don’t have any recent pictures of what my bookshelves looked like before. They were a mess I can tell you that much. I painted the office a grey color that I am in love with. I have never been so excited to be in my office as I am now. It’s just so pretty and organized. Taking everything out helped me evaluate what should or should not be in the office as well. I got rid of some things and rearranged some stuff. I just love it so much now.

And I know that I am super nosy so I will even give you some close up pictures of my bookshelves. There are fairy lights behind the curtains as well, btw. I’m just so happy with it!

The last image is the bookshelf of my favorite series that I have read over the years. I even made room for more books!

There are a few more things that I need to do with the office. I have artwork to hang and I think I am going to put some lights on the bookshelves. I also want to add a fancy light, maybe a chandelier. My office will also serve as a guest room if we ever have any visitors. Any of our guests will have a ton of books to read during their stay.

What would your dream office look like?
